Shellharbour City Warriors Baseball Club officials and players alike are excited at the prospect of entering the Illawarra Baseball Major League competition this coming winter.
After playing in the Minor Leagues since the club’s inception in 1996 Warriors have finally been able to make the jump and nominate a team in the 3rd grade IBL Major League.

The Illawarra Baseball League Executive welcomed the Warriors’ nomination with the expectation that it will strengthen baseball in the Illawarra, especially with the expected move by the Warriors from their present home ground at Howard Fowles to a designated baseball facility at Myimbarr.

Warriors officials are pleased to have well known local baseball identity Mic “Tugga” Talty come on board to captain/coach the Major League side.

Tugga’s depth of experience and baseball coaching knowledge will certainly make the Warriors’ Major league side competitive.

Warriors will be holding their second training and registration session at Howard Fowles Oval next Sunday, February 25 commencing at 10.30 am.

All present and intending players are welcome to attend. A sausage sizzle will be held afterwards and, as usual, the whole family is welcome.

Warriors will once again look forward to the support of their major sponsor, Warilla Sports Club, which has supported them from day one.

Warriors Baseball Club caters for all players over 14, at all skill levels, male or female, that wish to participate in the exciting sport of baseball in the Shellharbour City area.

Warriors Keen to Enter the IBL Major League

There is now a keen interest in the Warriors’ club towards entering a team in the IBL Major League next season. To that ends we will be calling an Extraordinary General Meeting of all people and players interested in the creation of this team (or teams) to be held on Thursday November 16 at the Warilla Sports Club; the same night we farewell Richard and Holly. The meeting will commence at 7.30 pm.

We have an experienced Major League coach that has expressed an interest as well as some other players from the Majors.

Ø We will definitely not be looking at entering a team in Major League First Grade next season.
Ø The Minor and Major aspects of the Warriors will not be separated. The Warriors’ Executive will cover all grades. There will be no “us and them” politics tolerated. We are all “Warriors” together!!
Ø Those players that wish to make themselves available for Sunday only or Saturday only will have their wishes respected
Ø Training is expected to commence late January

Things to consider that we will need for the Saturdays :
*Assistant Coach, Executive Officer, Scorer/Statistician, Gear Steward
*Hopefully, we can put a strong enough team together to enter Second Grade
*Ideally, we will have enough to enter Second and Third Grade
*Canteen Staff
*A new set of playing shirts
*We need to recruit players now. All Warriors can help in this by spreading the word.
*The Major League team(s) will be a squad from star to finish of the season
*If the IBL will not allow us to play home games at Howard Fowles, which other club can we approach to run home games with?

Issues dealing only with the formation of a Major League team will be discussed at this meeting.

Any player interested in playing Major League for Warriors next season is welcome to attend.
